Some snacks are so simple that you almost hesitate to call them a recipe. But once you taste them, you realize why everyone talks about them. That is exactly the case with Alabama Firecrackers.
The first time I made these was for a casual gathering. I needed something crunchy, savory, and easy to prepare ahead of time. Someone mentioned this Southern snack where crackers soak up a bold mixture of oil, ranch seasoning, and spices.
I mixed everything together, sealed the bag, and left it overnight. The next day the crackers were packed with flavor, a little spicy, a little tangy, and completely addictive.
Now these Alabama firecrackers are one of my favorite snacks to prepare when we have friends over or when I want something crunchy to keep around for the week.

Step 4: Coat The Crackers
Gently turn the bag several times so the crackers become evenly coated.
Try to avoid shaking too hard so the crackers do not break.

Let the crackers sit at room temperature for at least 4 hours or overnight.
Turn the bag occasionally so the seasoning distributes evenly.
Once ready, serve and enjoy.

Notes And Variations
Here are a few ways I like to change up Alabama firecrackers.
Adjust the heat
Use less red pepper flakes if you want them milder.
Add parmesan cheese
A few tablespoons of grated parmesan add a savory touch.
Use different crackers
Mini saltines or oyster crackers also work well.
Try different oils
Olive oil gives a slightly richer flavor.
