Description
Grilled Cheese Roll Ups are crispy, buttery rolls filled with melty cheese. Made with soft sandwich bread and grilled until golden brown, they are a fun twist on classic grilled cheese.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8-10 slices soft white sandwich bread (crusts removed)
- 8-10 slices melting cheese such as cheddar, American, Monterey Jack, Colby Jack, or provolone
- 4-5 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened or melted
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- Pinch paprika (optional)
- Pinch dried Italian herbs (optional)
Instructions
- Remove crusts from each slice of bread using a sharp knife
- Place bread on a flat surface and roll each slice thin using a rolling pin
- Place a slice of cheese along one edge of the flattened bread leaving a small border
- Sprinkle optional seasonings over the cheese if desired
- Roll the bread tightly into a compact cylinder
- Brush the outside of each roll with melted butter or spread softened butter evenly
- Heat a nonstick skillet over medium-low to medium heat
- Place the roll-ups seam-side down in the skillet
- Cook for 2–4 minutes until golden brown then turn and cook all sides until crispy and cheese is melted
- Remove from pan and serve immediately while hot and crispy
Notes
Use very soft fresh bread so it rolls easily without tearing. Cook on medium-low heat to ensure the cheese melts before the bread browns too quickly. These roll ups are best served immediately while the cheese is hot and gooey.
